BIOGRAPHY OF JOSEPH MBILINYI A.K.A MR II SUGU..

Joseph Osmund Mbilinyi, who is known as Mr Two proud or Sugu is a veteran musician in Tanzania, he is also a member of  parliament represent Mbeya in Tanzanika. Mr Sugu loves Mbeya very much, even you can think it is his born place or his origin but the fact is that Sugu was born in Mtwara region at Ligula Hospital .
His origin is Ruvuma district (his tribe may be Ngoni) WHILE many people think that he may be Nyakyusa, a tribe from Mbeya. Sugu moved to the Mbeya in 1987 after his father transferred to the place.
Sugu was born on 01.05.1972 and it was the case he called May during his childhood due to his birth in World Workers day (May Day). On 24.09.1992 is a day that Sugu can not forget in his life. It was a day when he lost his father, who was the family's dependent on all aspects of life. In the last days of his father's life he given all control and care to Sugu for his family; so It Was Not Funny in one of his lyrics when  when he said, "When Dad died I had to take care of my mother and make sure my little get education".
When his father died, Sugu was 20 years old. It was the time when  Sugu was completing the "Clearing and Forwarding Course" at the "Equatorial Training College" in Dar es Salaam. At the same time he was also begun engaging in music.
In short he was just a musician only and not a businessman  as he says and the music its self was un payable during the time. Sugu says even that Clearing and Forwarding course was not his interest but he studied so that he could have a chance to live in Dar es Salaam, a place where there is huge opportunity to performing music activities compare to Mbeya.
His responsibilities of serving a Family as assigned by his late father was the cause that made him to move out of Tanzania border in 1993 to South Africa, one year after his father's death.
In 1995s it was the period when he was more focused on the music issues. It was the time when great history written by Brother Joseph Mbilinyi
                            
Possibly Sugu  a top new generation artist with many albums in Tanzania. Until now he has provided almost nine albums in Bongo flava music. The album first album is " Ni mimi' a swahili word mean "I Am" released in  1995, "Ndani ya bongo" means 'Inside Bongo" of  (1996), Niite Mr II (1998) means "call me Mr II", "Nje ya Bongo" means "Outside of Bongo" (1999), Millennium (2000), 'Muziki na maisha"  means 'Music and Life' (2001), 'Itikadi' means "Philosophy" (2002), Sugu (2004), "Coming of Age" (2006) and last is  "VETO" released 2009.
When he was releasing his album entitled 'Muziki na maisha"  means 'Music and Life' at the beginning of the 2000s, he was real believe that music was his economic deliverer at the time.It was during this time when he began to struggle with the pressures and challenges until he embarrassed his carrier.
These challenges were the ones that would prove to be wrong or to criticize his concept of "Music and Life". It can describe them as follows;
It was during this period when he began to be attacked to end his music through undermine his mainstream in the media as Sugu is a kind of person who does not want to be mistreated or to lose his right. It is possible that these people did not know how long this nigger has got so hard of his life that`s why he surprised when they tend to become haters when he received a little bit of pleasure.
Surprisingly, Sugu began to be asked for bribe by the media people for promo despite of his long-term music hustling. He said one of the TV station presenter tried to corrupt him so that his new released video named "Moto chini" to get airtime.
 It reached the point, he thought to report this case to PCCB, Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau in Tanzania but he he said that "nothing to worry if they would not play his songs as he  did a lot of big dials that make one million, two, three, four to five, as cited from one his song`s lyrics"
At this time also Sugu found himself complaining about Love affairs even in his song " Hayakuwa mapenzi" means 'That was`nt real love" This is after being left by his girlfriend, her parents evaluated him (Sugu) of not having a future, though he said that he did not blame them for seeking their daughter optimistic future but that was not real love. The concept of God is for every ones` provision was vise versa to them.

Sugu will not  forget how he was robbed. This was after returning from Europe with musical set that he wanted to make invest in the relevant music industry. It was during midnight when he invaded and get pulled each and everything. Although later he got his equipment but astonishing, those robbers who attacked and threatened to kill him no any action taken upon them, they were still bang around the streets. This was a continuation of corruption practices  in state-sensitive institutions.
He can`t also forget how he was abused for his Malaria eradication campaign project. His first claim was to the United States embassy and the Tanzania government by resignation him and then moved the project to a certain radio station where they said "they are not involved in any project than giving artists, musical equipment and never involving them for any thing ". The project was launched by President Kikwete as "MALARIA NO MORE."
In 2010 Sugu decided to enter in politics and contest parliamentary elections for Mbeya state via Chadema political party and succeed in winning. Getting into politics is due to the strong influence he received from Hon. John Mnyika. According to Zavara (2012) he said Sugu is likely to became the world's first Hip hop artist to be elected as MP.
That was the beginning of Sugu's politics. It should be noted after he become a member of Parliament, Sugu wrote a book about his life from local street life to the parliament and its the one that has provided me with a guide to writing this article for 50%.
Even after the next parliamentary candidate election again in 2015 he was re-elected and won more votes than any other MP in Tanzania.
We agree that 2010 is the notable year which Sugu officially entered politics. Since that year to now many years has passed. If you listen to his song entitled "Freedom" you will discover the great success he has experienced when he entered politics that failed to be archived in almost twenty years of doing his music. We can agree with him when he said that was not  his real life, it was just a matter of make money.
In Sugu`s politics lifetime Sugu has been able to construct his three-star hotel in a the name Hotel Desderia at his home land, Mbeya. Sugu entered the construction contract with a company called Home Africa. The hotel building has been recovered after taking a loan from the CRDB Bank. The basic question to ask is that, if he was just an artist he would be able to get a such loan? How many artists in Tanzania that could become liable for that loan level?

It should be noted that during the Vinega Anti-Virus movement against Clouds FM no arbitration made between the two sides until Sugu spoke in his parliamentary lecture as a shadow minister. The government then solved and set disputes between Sugu and Ruge. It is unclear whether Sugu has joined Ruge on behalf of Vinega or is for his Malaria project. We should not forget that, rapper Roma said that money was the arbitration of the conflict between Ruge and Sugu in his song '2030". How do you reject that politics has changed the life of Sugu?
In the liberal world of Economic Freedom you have the right to admit yourself. You can not be surprised when Sugu does that. When I look at Rapper Suma G jogging with collage students at the Social Welfare Institute's squares at the same time Sugu can be at Gymkhana squares playing golf with his V.I.P colleagues. As you go on, Life and Company are also changing.
These are just some of the things that he did not finish while he was a musician but he has able now to acomplish aftre becom a politician. If you think Sugu wants to be a musician you are mistaken; he says he is running to be a veteran politician.
Any successes have its own costs. As a politician you need to know how to fear and hung out your vomit. Many of people will not be aware that Sugu has ever been fishing for his own kidnapping. In his song "Kambarage" there is a lyrics where he says "people like Chenge and Lowassa, their politics is the capital of plowing."
Sugu said that Lowassa had pledged money through politics but the same time in the election campaign in 2015 he was the one on front line convincing people to vote for Lowassa as President. This is the meaning of politics and there is nothing extraordinary.
Sometimes in politics you should be more than Peter who denied Jesus three times to three different people but in politics you should temporarily deny yourself three times before the millions of Tanzanians if not the world.

Something that Sugu was aware of when he started music until then is that success is accompanied by hatred and can sometimes be turned aside by so-called friends. All of us know Sugu's contribution to Rapper Afande Sele's music but astonishing is where Afande agreed to perform the Ludacris concert at Leaders Club, Dar es salaam when it was a same day with  Vinega's tournament led by Sugu to undermine Sugu's tournament . That's why I'm not surprised when he says he is now sleeping at hypocrisy as hedo not care what they say.
A few years ago Afande sele complained that Sugu since he was elected to be a member of the parliament has not fought more for artists rights. Sugu replied that he is not a MP on behalf of the artists, he is on behalf of the Mbeya people. He answered well but had to remember that even Mbeya there are many artists who need his help, remember artists like Izzo B, Adili, Quick Rocca, AY etc.
It is my hope that musical philosophy and life in Sugu thoughts is the major cause of being involved in Politics and Life. It is obviously currently contemplating Politics than Music. In couple of years in  Parliament has provided / participated in less than five songs, if it could be even six years only of music he would have provided not less than two albums. After becoming a veteran Musician now wants to become a veteran politician. He must say Goodbye Music and Life, welcome  Politics and Life. Wish you all the best Brother Sugu.
